She is Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Pisa. Since the beginning of her scientific career she collaborates with the Istituto Nazionale of Fisica Nucleare (INFN). She works in experimental physics and is presently participating in the ATLAS experiment held at CERN Laboratory in Geneva and leading the ATLAS group in Pisa. She has been one of the Physicists that discovered the Higgs boson in 2012. Her research activities include both data analysis and new detector developments. In physics analysis her work addresses both precision measurements and new particles searches. New detector development activities include track triggers and hadronic-calorimetry. In ATLAS, an international collaboration of about 2000 physicists, she has leading and management roles. She co-teaches the course of experimental laboratory in particle physics at the Department of Physics and the course of mechanics and thermodynamic at the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She has supervised a large number of laurea and PhD thesis and served as PhD external referees in foreign universities. She has been visiting professor at the University of Arizona (USA) and at the Melbourne University (AU).
