Francesco Marcelloni received the Laurea degree in Electronics Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pisa in 1991 and 1996, respectively. He is currently a full professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. He has been a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Pisa. He has co-founded the Computational Intelligence Group at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa in 2002. Further, he is the founder and head of the Competence Centre on MObile Value Added Services (MOVAS).
His main research interests include multi-objective evolutionary algorithms, genetic fuzzy systems, fuzzy clustering algorithms, pattern recognition, signal analysis, neural networks, mobile information systems, and data compression and aggregation in wireless sensor networks. He has co-edited three volumes, four journal special issues, and is (co-)author of a book and of more than 190 papers in international journals, books and conference proceedings. He has been TPC co-chair of the 9th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA’09) and ISDA’11, TPC chair of the 8th IEEE International workshop on Sensor Networks and Systems for Pervasive Computing, general co-chair of ISDA’10, and co-organizer of several workshops and special sessions in international conferences. Currently, he serves as associate editor of Information Sciences (Elsevier), Soft Computing (Springer), the International Journal of Swarm Intelligence and Evolutionary Computation (OMICS), and the International Journal of Sensor Networks and Data Communications (OMICS). He is also on the editorial board of the International Journal on Advances in Software (IARIA).
