Benedetta Iavarone
Data Science Ph.D. Student (Cycle 34)
Bio:
Benedetta was born in Lecce, Italy, in 1991. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Data Science, with a focus on how multimodal sources influence human's emotional state and on how emotions and feelings are expressed through language.
Before joining the Ph.D. program, she received a BA in Languages, literature and intercultural communication from the University of Salento (2015) and a MA in Digital Humanities with a thesis on Multilingual Sentence Complexity from the University of Pisa (2017). In 2018 she was a Visiting Research Assistant at the University of Sheffield, UK, where she joined the Natural Language Processing group and contributed to research on the influence of social media in politics propaganda.
Besides her research interests, she is a passionate music lover and singer, with a MA in Piano performance (2013).
