Elisa Ferrari
Data Science Ph.D. Student (Cycle 33)
Bio:
Elisa Ferrari was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy in 1993. She received her BSc degree in Physics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, discussing a thesis on the simulation of surface electrical properties of copper. Then she moved to the leaning tower city where she received her MSc degree in Medical Physics at the University of Pisa in 2017, discussing a thesis on the application of Machine Learning algorithms to Magnetic Resonance Images for the study of Autism, obtaining a final mark of 110/110 cum laude.
In 2017 she was one of the winners of the PhD+ contest organized by the University of Pisa, presenting a project for a start-up in the security sector, obtaining the possibility to partecipate to the TVLP entrepreneurship program in Silicon Valley (California).
She is currently a PhD student in the Data Science program jointly offered by SNS, UniPi, SSSUP, IMT and CNR. In her work she is expanding the study on Autism ranging from neuroimaging, transcriptomics and artificial intellignece, thanks to the supervision of Davide Bacciu, Alessandro Cellerino and Alessandra Retico.
Research Interest:
Her main topic of interest is Data Science applyed to the medical sector, ranging from genetics data to any kind of bioimages or signals. As a natural consequence, her research focused also on problems such as Class Imablance, Causal Inference and Trustworthy AI.
