Giovanni Tonutti

Bio:
I am a social scientists with an interest in the quantitative analysis of public policy issues. I have obtained a BSc in Politics with Economics at the University of Bath and a MSc in European Public Policy at University College London. Before starting the PhD in Data Science, I have worked as an analyst for the public sector consultancy Policy in Practice, in London, where i took part to a range of projects involving the evaluation of national and local welfare programs and micro-simulation modelling of policy impact.
Research Interest:
My current research interests focus on the study of welfare measures in Italy. As part of my PhD research, I am carrying out a study analysing different aspects of a recently introduced anti-poverty measure in the country, the Citizens' Income (RdC). Through the use of Small Area Estimation methods, I am assessing the targeting performance of the policy across different Italian provinces. At the same time, I am evaluating the impact of the policy on a set of economic, social and political outcomes through the application of causal inference models.
